It was a great show!

The story line was clear and followable, the variety of acts notable in their execution and imagination, the lead (seeker) was a character that was easy to connect with, the band was rockin and I liked the unexplained 'keeper of the jars' being integrated in the second half. The use of sound, dance, and projection was well done. Artistically, I give you all huge props! It was much more than I had expected from an unknown collective production I found via web search.

I spent many years with the CELLspace community,
producing and performing shows that were developed though a communal process.
Sometimes it's magic.
Sometimes the process intends to make an otter and the end result is a platypus.
This was magic...

From producing my own events and being involved in many other events like this,
I have a couple of words for the next production:

1.Pay what you can is for dress rehearsals, not your money days.
Make your Thursday PWYC/NOTAFLOF and you'll get the word out about your show early.
If you wait until Saturday, your community doesn't come until the run is half over.
By then the buzz is nearly pointless.
If your buzz begins weds or thurs, when your friends see the show, they will bring friends.
If you're worried, give out 2 for 1's or 3 for 2's on your dress rehearsal night.

It's hard to produce the next show if you don't fill the seats on full ticketed days.

2. If your flyer and web promo announce $16 presales, you'd better have presales available.
It's kinda bait-and-switch to annouce presale tickets are available at your website,
only to click it and see "Tickets are ONLY available at the door, $20-30 sliding scale".
If you announce it, honor your announcement or suffer by your own hand.
Paired with the late PWYC, I waited to pay what seemed fair for a show I knew nothing about...
the same $10 I paid for another amazing show the weekend before in SF (Simple Matters)
in a proper theater at Fort Mason. If I could have gotten tickets in advance,
I would have paid $16. Twenty to thirty is a bit high for a show with limited PR,
a cast I didn't know, in an out of the way location...
Sorry, but I'm coming from the general public perspective.
I didn't know anyone involved, but felt it was worth seeing what was up.

3. Place your posters around town.
I understand they are expensive to print,
but it's penny wise and dollar dumb when the first time I see the poster in person
it's for sale by donation at the ticket table (yes I bought one).
I went up and down Commercial Drive after the show and didn't spot your posters.

I hope you all take this the right way...
It was a fantastic show,
I hope Dusty Flowerpot Collective keeps up the fantastic work,
and I'd like to see you all go far.

As for the Burn BC party, the only friend in town I knew who would be going was down with the flu.
See you all next visit, and look me up if you're down in SF

...And looking to stave off boredom and interior living!

Any recommendations?

So far I've found the Listening Jar show listed, and looking into the promoted presale tickets that are mentioned on their press EVERYWHERE but without a way to purchase said tickets online... will stop by Legal Defense tomorrow.

Burn BC party friday night... worth the $20 ticket?

Aside form that it's circus time with friends and errrands that we came up to handle,
but life is dull without fun times among community!

I'll check here later...
